A scientific seminar on the topic “Mechanism of heme-controlled bioelectric signal transduction” will be held at the Institute of Biophysics
On October 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan will host a scientific seminar dedicated to the “80th Anniversary of ANAS” on the topic “Mechanism of heme-controlled bioelectric signal transduction.”
At the seminar, Aysel A. Aliyeva, Junior Researcher at the “Cell Signal Transduction” Laboratory, will give a presentation.
You are kindly invited to attend the seminar.
Brief information:
“Mechanism of heme-controlled bioelectric signal transduction”
Studies have shown that heme binds to ion channels and regulates their activity. Although the mechanisms of heme action on various ion channels are similar, the specific binding sites that are sensitive to heme are different. This indicates that heme has a unique role in regulating ion channels. Recent studies have shown that heme is likely to have important functions in the cell by controlling the activity of ion channels, although the physiological significance of this activity has not been fully studied. We believe that our results may be important for future research in the field of ion channels.
