The 9th International Scientific Conference on “Modern Trends in Physics” is being held at Baku State University (BSU) with the joint organization of Middle East Technical University, Ankara University, Gazi University, Ege University and Kocaeli University (Türkiye), Anhui University (China), the Institute of Applied Physics of Moldova State University, Case Western Reserve University (USA), COMSATS University and the University of Lahore (Pakistan), the University of Szeged (Hungary), and the National Institute of Materials Physics (Romania).

At the conference, the Director General of the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Corresponding Member of ANAS and Doctor of Physical Sciences Oktay Gasimov, as well as the Institute’s researcher Matanat Bakhishova delivered presentations at the plenary session. Their reports highlighted modern scientific findings on the role of the tumor microenvironment and metabolism in cancer development, including the possibility that metabolic changes may occur prior to morphological alterations. It was emphasized that combining metabolic profiling with morphological indicators can improve diagnostic accuracy. The presentations were received with interest and generated constructive scientific discussions.

Researchers and graduate students of the Institute of Biophysics also actively participated in the sectional meetings of the conference. Researcher Aida Mammadzada presented “The role of Congo red in the determination of aggregates in silk fibroin solution”, Aytac Mammadova presented “Optical and structural analyses of the sericin–rhodamine 6G interaction”, while Matanat Bakhishova delivered a talk on “The effect of hyperthermia and alkalization on the distribution dynamics of anti-cancer agents in lung cancer”. Graduate students Tahmina Aliyeva and Ayten Sayyabli presented “Expression and purification of the cytochrome C-like domain of the human BK channel” and “Interplay between bioelectrical and EGFR signaling pathways as a novel approach in cancer therapy,” respectively. The presentations attracted significant interest among the conference participants.
