At the Institute of Biophysics a scientific seminar will be held

On July 4, 2023, at 11:00, a scientific seminar entitled "Incompatibility of ZBED4: Cell Morphology Changes and Loss of PNR - Fact or Fiction?" will be held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The seminar will feature a presentation by PhD Novruz Ahmedov, a researcher from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Interested individuals are welcome to participate in the seminar.

Brief information:

ZBED4 is a representative of the BED domain-containing zinc finger protein group. It is expressed in photoreceptor cells and Müller cells of the human retina. In the rodent retina, it is present only in Müller cells. BED domain-containing proteins can either activate or repress transcription by binding to GC-rich sequences in chromatin structure.

Specifically, the loss of function of PNR, a nuclear receptor protein expressed exclusively in photoreceptor cells, leads to abnormal development and degeneration of photoreceptors in the retina of infants. This recessively inherited deviation results in the enhanced proliferation syndrome of short-wavelength S-cones.
