An event was held at the Institute of Biophysics in honor of Victory Day on November 8 and State Flag Day on November 9. At the beginning of the event, the General Director of the Institute, Professor Oktay Qasimov, who is a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, greeted the participants and delivered an opening speech. He called for a moment of silence to honor the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.
Following this, Professor Oktay Qasimov spoke about the significance and place of Victory Day on November 8 in Azerbaijani history. He emphasized that this historic victory, achieved through the foresighted policy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the unity of the people, holds great importance in both the political and military spheres. "We are always committed to safeguarding our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and this victory is a celebration of that commitment," said Qasimov.
At the event, Aysel Aliyeva, a member of the Institute’s Council of Young Scientists and Specialists and a junior researcher in the Laboratory of Cell Signal Transmission, also spoke. She discussed the provocations carried out by the Armenian army in the Tovuz direction in July 2020 and emphasized that as a result of Azerbaijan's struggle for territorial integrity during the Patriotic War, Armenia was compelled to sign an act of capitulation. Aysel Aliyeva also highlighted the importance of establishing State Flag Day on November 9 for the people of Azerbaijan, stressing the significance of the continuous waving of the tricolor flag, a symbol of independence and the legacy of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. She concluded by expressing her gratitude on behalf of the institute for organizing the event.
As part of the event, a video dedicated to Victory Day was shown. The video highlighted the victory in Karabakh and the reconstruction work underway in the liberated territories, underscoring the moral and historical value of this triumph for the nation.
In conclusion, Professor Oktay Qasimov delivered remarks about the extensive restoration and reconstruction work ongoing in Karabakh. He emphasized the significance of the position achieved by Azerbaijan with this victory and concluded the event by saying, "May this victory be eternal, and may Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and independence always be safeguarded."
