On March 5, 2019, at 10:00 am in the seminar room (6th floor) of the Institute of Biophysics the next seminar will be held.

At the seminar, junior research scientist of the laboratory “Ecological biophysics” Zarifa Osmanli will make a report on the topic “Molecular-bioinformatics analysis of the prion gene in buffalo populations (Anatolian, Murrah), molecular level study of selenoproteins and their role in cancer diseases”.

The following topics will be discussed in the report:

• Study of ORF polymorphisms of the PRNP gene in the body of a buffalo;
• Investigation of the current NCBI database of ORF polymorphisms of the PRNP gene in the cow organism;
• Comparative bioinformatics analysis of buffalo and cow PRNP genes;
• The influence of polymorphisms detected in the examined organisms, likely the second structure of the prion protein.
• The effect of polymorphisms found in the studied organisms on the predicted secondary structure of the prion protein.
