The meeting of the Scientific Council was held

On September 22, the next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics of ANAS  was held.

At the meeting, organized in accordance with the requirements of the quarantine regime and with the expectation of social distance, most of the council members participated online.

Director of the Institute of Biophysics, chairman of the Scientific Council, corresponding member of ANAS Oktay Gasymov opened the meeting with the introductory word and informed the participants with the issues on the agenda.

The first issue on the agenda was the discussion about the tasks set by the General Meeting of ANAS held on June 10, 2020, before the Department of Physical, Mathematical, and Technical Sciences (DPMTS). Thus, the Action Plan on the implementation of the “Development Program of ANAS for 2020-2025”, as well as proposals of DPMTS scientific institution on the coronavirus pandemic and related problems were widely discussed.

In order to ensure the implementation of the decisions made by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, it was decided to exercise public control at the institute.

The chairman of the council also spoke about a number of important scientific and scientific-organizational issues. The professor noted that the structure headed by him has already prepared relevant proposals on the upcoming tasks to combat pandemic and post-pandemic, specific tasks have been identified.  He noted that the program for the creation of cell technologies at the institute was presented to the Presidium of ANAS.

Then the issue of assessing the activities of the institute’s employees was discussed.  Oktay Gasymov emphasized that the planned program will allow evaluating the scientific activities of employees during the year.  According to him, it is necessary to ensure a high level of scientific research at the institute, as well as to increase the responsibility of scientific researchers.

In conclusion, the issue of establishing doctoral studies at the institute was discussed, and it was decided to prepare proposals and send them to DPMTS.
