The first meeting of the Scientific Council in the new year was held

On January 15, 2019, the first meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics of ANAS in the new working year was held under the chairmanship of the Institute’s Director, Professor Oktay Gasimov.

Opening the meeting, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Oktay Gasimov introduced the Council members to the agenda.

According to the agenda, the Presidium of ANAS's Decision No. 17/3, dated December 14, 2018, regarding the expansion of the integration of information on important scientific achievements of ANAS into international scientific databases, as well as Decision No. 17/4, dated December 14, 2018, on the national competition of scientific research projects for young scientists were discussed.

During the discussions, Arzu Aydemirova, a researcher at the "Structure, Dynamics, and Function of Biomolecules" laboratory and a PhD candidate at the Institute of Physics of ANAS, presented detailed information on the Web of Science platform, as a representative of Thomson Reuters for the Institute of Biophysics. She emphasized that the services provided by Thomson Reuters are crucial for bringing the scientific research conducted at the Institute to global standards, and for ensuring that the Institute's researchers stay informed about global scientific research.

Following this, Elbey Melikmammadov, a junior researcher at the "Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry" laboratory, provided a report on his scientific visit to Turkey (Ankara) from December 17 to 21, 2018, at the invitation of the Middle East Technical University. His report was approved as satisfactory.

Next, the members of the Council discussed the work plan for the Scientific Council for 2019. Decisions were made regarding the preparation of work programs for laboratories and departments, as well as individual work plans for scientific staff for the new working year.

The meeting also addressed the issue of establishing a PhD program at the Institute of Biophysics, and various proposals were made.

At the end of the meeting, the candidacies of Ruhiyya Tahira gizi Guliyeva, Senior Researcher at the "Ecological Biophysics" laboratory, and Florida Radik gizi Mehraliyeva, Scientific Secretary of the Institute, for the title of Associate Professor were proposed. The proposal was put to a vote and was unanimously accepted.
