Scientific research at the Institute of Biophysics of ANAS is being conducted using new laboratory equipment.

The institute, equipped with various modern instruments, is actively utilizing them for scientific experiments. To facilitate these studies, biophysical, biochemical, and molecular biological methods are being further developed at the Institute of Biophysics.

Junior researcher of the "Structure, Dynamics, and Function of Biomolecules" laboratory, Leman Dashdemirova, and 2nd-year master's student at the Institute of Physics, Said Pashayev, are conducting research using the Langmuir & Langmuir Blodgett device.

According to the researchers, KSV NIMA Langmuir enables the formation of monolayers in a liquid-gas phase, while KSV NIMA Langmuir-Blodgett not only forms monolayers but also deposits them onto solid substrates.

Scientists use the KSV NIMA Langmuir system to obtain monolayers of protein molecules at the liquid-gas interface and investigate structural changes within these layers by measuring surface pressure.

To improve the quality of experiments, laboratory staff, together with the master's student, constructed a computer-controlled syringe pump, which allows precise introduction of protein solutions at a controlled volume and speed.

Additionally, a thermostat has been installed in the laboratory to observe conformational changes at different temperatures.
