On November 25, an international scientific seminar was held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan.

The seminar was opened by the Director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Oktay Gasanov, who introduced the participants to the Italian scientists — Professor Laura Ragona, Simona Tomaselli, and their research fields. He mentioned that the collaboration between Professor L. Ragona's laboratory and the Institute of Biophysics has been ongoing for more than 6 years. He emphasized the significant role of grants from the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) in the successful and productive nature of this collaboration.

Then, Professor Laura Ragona from the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Technologies of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) presented a talk titled "Biophysical characterization of the aggregation process of functional and pathological amyloids." She highlighted that the main part of her presentation was focused on the joint work with the Institute of Biophysics. Laura Ragona pointed out the importance of research conducted on silk fibroin, which serves as a model for beta-amyloid aggregates causing Alzheimer's disease. She expressed the desire to continue scientific research on the aggregation kinetics and the inhibition of their formation in collaboration with the Institute of Biophysics under a new grant project. The Italian scientist also discussed the achievements made and emphasized the future medical perspectives of the research.

At the end of the seminar, Oktay Gasanov, the Director of the Institute of Biophysics, thanked the speaker on behalf of the Institute and stated that the Institute is highly interested in the continued successful development of this collaboration.
