The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics included the presentation of laboratory reports for the year 2023

The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics was held under the chairmanship of Oktay Gasimov, the acting member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (AMEA), where reports on the scientific and organizational activities of laboratories for the year 2023 were presented.

At the event, directors and executives of the laboratories, including Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, Integrative Biology, Structure, Dynamics and Function of Biomolecules, Ecological Biophysics, and Molecular and Cellular Oncology, provided reports. Presentations were given by Dr. Karim Gasimov, acting member of AMEA Ilham Shahmuradov, Prof. Tokay Huseynov, Dr. Leylakhanim Malikova, and executives Dr. Rasim Aslanov, Dr. Mursal Dadashov, Dr. Sevinc Jafarova, and PhD. Zarifa Osmanli.

The presentations covered the significant results of scientific research conducted in the laboratories in 2023, their scientific and practical importance, scientific articles published in international journals, grant projects, personnel training, integration of science and education, participation in conferences, and international scientific relations and collaboration.

Following the presentations, there were extensive discussions and proposals. The chairman, Prof. Oktay Gasimov, proposed to vote on the acceptance of the annual reports on the scientific and organizational activities of the laboratories, which was unanimously approved by the members of the Scientific Council through an open vote.

Subsequently, the chairman, Prof. Oktay Gasimov, discussed the letter dated November 16, 2023, with reference number 3-29/2-7719/2023 from the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and tasks were assigned based on the content of the letter.

Later in the meeting, the results of the assessment of the doctoral student L.A. Malikova, who is preparing for a doctoral degree in biophysics, were discussed and approved.         

Finally, the possibilities of collaboration between the Institute of Biophysics and Western Caspian University were discussed, and it was noted that PhD and DSc colleagues from the institute could voluntarily join collaborative efforts with them.
