On April 24, 2025, the next meeting of the Scientific Council was held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The meeting was chaired by the institute’s general director, corresponding member of ANAS (Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences), Oktay Gasimov.

The meeting began with information about a report to be presented by Professor Eldar Masimov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences from the Department of Structure of Matter at Baku State University. His presentation, titled "Water-based Two-phase Systems and Their Application Perspectives," was noted for its importance from the perspective of both fundamental and applied sciences. It was mentioned that the report would provide a detailed explanation of approaches that open up new opportunities, particularly in the fields of biology and biotechnology.

Next, a report by PhD in Biology, Assoc. Taleh Yusifov, head of the Cell Signaling Transmission Laboratory of the Institute of Biophysics, on his scientific trip to the University of California (USA) from January 15 to April 14, 2025, was heard. There was also a discussion regarding a letter dated April 9, 2025, from Professor Riccardo Olcese of the Department of Molecular Medicine, specializing in Anesthesiology and Physiology, at the University of California.

In his speech, Taleh Yusifov emphasized the successful continuation of the existing cooperation program between the University of California and the Institute of Biophysics. He noted the growing significance of ion channels and the bioelectric signals they generate in the field of oncological research. He emphasized the critical role of electrophysiological studies conducted over many years in that laboratory, the important scientific discoveries, and the development of new technical tools. Yusifov mentioned that his experience working in Olcese’s lab was extremely valuable for him both scientifically and professionally. He thanked the leadership of the Institute of Biophysics for making this opportunity possible and expressed his pride in representing Azerbaijani science at the international level.

At the end of the meeting, current issues on the agenda were discussed and relevant decisions were made.
