As part of a series of events commemorating the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, a memorial event was organized at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event was opened with an introductory speech by the Director General of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Oktay Gasimov, who emphasized that the National Leader was the founder of the modern Azerbaijani Republic. He noted that thanks to Heydar Aliyev’s farsighted and purposeful policy, the independent Azerbaijani state was established on a solid foundation and continues on a path of sustainable development to this day. O. Gasimov stressed that the statehood concept established by the National Leader was not limited to one era but remains relevant in today’s Azerbaijan. "Heydar Aliyev is a phenomenon not only as a political leader but also as a figure with profound intellect, rich life experience, and endless love for his people," he added.

Then, Afsana Huseynova, a research associate of the Laboratory of Structure, Dynamics, and Function of Biomolecules at the Institute, delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of the 102nd anniversary of Heydar Aliyev’s birth. She noted that holding such events annually carries great importance for the nation. “Today we once again turn to Heydar Aliyev’s personality, his statecraft, and his scientific and social legacy. Every such event serves the purpose of preserving his legacy in the memory of the people, exploring it more deeply, and passing it on to future generations,” said Huseynova.

In her speech, Afsana Huseynova also highlighted the National Leader’s special attention to science and education. She stated that the favorable conditions created by Heydar Aliyev for the development of science, his policies aimed at the well-being of scientists and the preservation of intellectual potential form the foundation of the field’s current achievements. His contributions to the development of ANAS, the promotion of both fundamental and applied research, the establishment of new laboratories, and the involvement of young scientists in research are invaluable.

In his concluding remarks, Director General Oktay Gasimov prayed for the late leader and expressed that his soul rests in peace, as today his worthy successor, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, is pursuing a successful and nationally-oriented policy. “If today Azerbaijan is recognized both regionally and globally as a secure and stable country, this is a triumph of Heydar Aliyev’s legacy and the continuation of his political path,” O. Gasimov emphasized.
