On December 12, the Institute of Biophysics under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized a memorial event dedicated to the commemoration of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. At the beginning of the event, participants observed a one-minute silence in honor of the late leader.

The institute’s director, corresponding member of ANAS Oktay Gasimov, delivered an opening speech, speaking about Heydar Aliyev’s unparalleled services in strengthening Azerbaijani statehood, ensuring stability in the country, and laying the foundations for development. O. Gasimov emphasized that in the early 1990s, our country faced serious economic and political difficulties. During this challenging period, thanks to the wise policy and far-sighted governance of the National Leader, stability was restored, and Azerbaijan embarked on the path of development. “Foreign observers also note that the stability in Azerbaijan is not present in many European countries. The foundation of this stability was laid by Heydar Aliyev and continues to this day,” O. Gasimov said. He also called on the institute’s staff to actively communicate their scientific achievements to the public and further promote the country’s scientific potential.

Aidə Məmmədzadə, a scientific worker of the Laboratory of Structure, Dynamics, and Function of Biomolecules, gave a detailed presentation on Heydar Aliyev’s life and career. She stated that Heydar Aliyev was born on May 10, 1923, in Nakhchivan into a railway worker’s family, graduated from the Nakhchivan Pedagogical Technical School in 1939, and later studied architecture at the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute, though World War II interrupted his education. In 1949–1950, he graduated from the School for Training Senior Staff of the State Security Committee in Leningrad and was appointed head of a department in the State Security Committee of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1950.

Aidə Məmmədzadə emphasized that Heydar Aliyev was not only a political leader but also a rare personality who gave special importance to preserving the national and moral values of the Azerbaijani people, developing culture, and nurturing young generations based on moral principles. The National Leader always paid particular attention to education and carried out strategic and long-term reforms in this field. His education policy aimed not only to raise literate and skilled generations but also to preserve national and moral values and maintain the historical and cultural heritage.

She also noted that during Heydar Aliyev’s leadership, stability was restored in the country, and the foundations of economic and social development were laid. The National Leader made unparalleled contributions to Azerbaijan’s struggle for independence and to the preservation and strengthening of statehood, earning the trust of the people.

At the conclusion of the event, Oktay Gasimov stated:
“Heydar Aliyev is a great leader who left an irreplaceable mark on the history of Azerbaijan. The statehood traditions he established, his strategic development concept, and stability policies are a valuable legacy that will guide future generations. We bear the responsibility to preserve and further develop this legacy. The ideas and life path of the National Leader will always be an example that unites and guides us.”
