ANAS announces the admission to doctoral and dissertation programs for the year 2019

The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) announces the admission to the doctoral and dissertation programs for the year 2019 based on the Doctoral and Dissertation Preparation Admission Plan for 2019 approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Decree No. 737s on December 4, 2019.

Applications for the doctoral and dissertation programs for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Science will be accepted from December 9-28, 2019, daily (except for Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays) from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

For the Doctor of Philosophy program, applicants who have completed the master's level of higher education (defended a master's thesis) or equivalent education (medical education as a specialist) will be admitted based on competition.

Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy program must pass an exam in a foreign language, based on the volume of the currently valid curriculum for the master's level of higher education (excluding Russian, and the choice must be free or specialized according to the area of study) in the State Examination Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Applicants who meet the passing score in the foreign language exam will be allowed to take the philosophy exam.

After passing the philosophy exam, candidates will be allowed to take the specialization exam.

For admission to the doctoral program, the following documents must be submitted to the relevant scientific institutions of ANAS (addresses of scientific institutions can be found on the website of ANAS, www.science.az):

• Application addressed to the director of the scientific institution
• Personal registration sheet
• Curriculum vitae
• Two passport-sized photos (3×4 cm)
• Extract from the work record book (for those with work experience)
• Reference from the workplace
• List of published scientific works or a selected reference on the chosen specialization
• Certified copy of the diploma of higher education (for citizens of Azerbaijan who have studied abroad, a certificate recognizing the educational documents)
• International certificate of foreign language proficiency (if available)
• Copy of identity document.

For the Doctor of Science program, Azerbaijani citizens with scientific or scientific-pedagogical achievements in the chosen field, capable of conducting high-level fundamental research, and holding the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Candidate of Sciences) are admitted.

The following documents must be submitted for admission to the Doctoral Program:

• Application (addressed to the director of the institution providing doctoral education)
• Personal registration sheet
• Curriculum vitae
• Two passport-sized photos (3×4 cm)
• Reference from the workplace
• Extract from the work record book
• List of published scientific works
• Certified copy of the diploma of Doctor of Philosophy (Candidate of Sciences)
• Certified copy of the diploma of higher education (for citizens of Azerbaijan who have studied abroad, a certificate recognizing the educational documents)
• Copy of identity document.

Applicants for the Dissertation Program aiming to obtain the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must have completed the master's level of higher education (defended a master's thesis), or equivalent education (medical education as a specialist), and must have certain achievements in the relevant research field, and at least two years of scientific and scientific-pedagogical work experience in higher education institutions, scientific institutions, or organizations.

Candidates for the Dissertation Program are not allowed to enroll in the program again for the same specialization.

For the Dissertation Program, candidates must take a foreign language exam for the master's level of higher education (excluding Russian, and the choice must be free or specialized according to the area of study) at the State Examination Center of Azerbaijan.

For the Dissertation Program, the following documents must be submitted to the relevant scientific institution of ANAS:

• Application (addressed to the director of the institution providing dissertation education)
• Personal registration sheet
• Curriculum vitae
• Two passport-sized photos (3×4 cm)
• Reference from the workplace
• Extract from the work record book
• List of published scientific works or reference on the selected specialization (for the Doctor of Philosophy preparation)
• Certified copy of the diploma of higher education (for citizens of Azerbaijan who have studied abroad, a certificate recognizing the educational documents)
• Copy of identity document.

The dissertation program candidates aiming for a Doctor of Science degree must have the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Candidate of Sciences).

For the Doctor of Science program, the following documents must be submitted to the relevant scientific institution of ANAS:

• Application (addressed to the director of the institution providing dissertation education)
• Personal registration sheet
• Curriculum vitae
• Two passport-sized photos (3×4 cm)
• Reference from the workplace
• Extract from the work record book
• List of published scientific works (for Doctor of Science preparation)
• Certified copy of the Doctor of Philosophy diploma (Candidate of Sciences)
• Certified copy of the diploma of higher education (for citizens of Azerbaijan who have studied abroad, a certificate recognizing the educational documents)
• Copy of identity document.

Note: Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy preparation and dissertation programs must register for the foreign language exam on the State Examination Center website after submitting their documents.

The foreign language exams are planned to be held from January 10-15, 2020.
