An event dedicated to Science Day was held

On March 14-15, 2019, a scientific seminar dedicated to Science Day was held at the Institute of Biophysics of ANAS.

Opening the event, the director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Oktay Qasımov informed the seminar participants about the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated April 9, 2018, regarding the celebration of Science Day, and the Action Plan approved by the Council for the Coordination of Scientific Research of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dated January 17, 2019.

During the seminar, dedicated to the topic “Modern Problems of Molecular Biophysics and Molecular Biochemistry; Future Perspectives”, Professor Tokay Hüseynov, Head of the Ecological Biophysics Laboratory of the Institute, gave a presentation on the current issues of molecular biophysics and biochemistry in Azerbaijani science.

Next, young scientist Ramiyyə Həsənova from the “Structure, Dynamics, and Functions of Biomolecules” Laboratory presented her report on “Components and Distinguishing Characteristics of Cell Membranes”.

On the second day of the scientific seminar, the scientific-popular presentations continued. First, Professor İlham Şahmuradov, Head of the Integrative Biology Laboratory, Corresponding Member of ANAS, gave a presentation on “Integrative Biology and Bioinformatics”. Then, young scientists presented their reports: Hava Adlin, a student at the Department of Life Sciences, Khazar University, with the topic “Effect of Chronic Periodontal Therapy on Microbiome of GCF (Gingival Crevicular Fluid)”, Shəlalə Nəcəfəliyeva, a student from Baku State University, with the topic “A New Method for the Preparation of Microelectrode Holders”, and Zərifə Osmanlı from the Institute of Biophysics, with the topic “Anti-sense Transcripts”.

At the end of the event, Kərim Qasımov, the Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Affairs, Doctor of Biological Sciences, emphasized the importance of holding such events and thanked the seminar participants.
