The meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics was held

On June 16, the following meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Azerbaijan took place.

During the meeting, chaired by the Director of the institute and corresponding member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Oktay Gasimov, the question of changing the name of the laboratory from "Molecular and Cellular Immunology" to "Cellular Signal Transmission Laboratory" was discussed. Additionally, the temporary appointment of Ph.D. Taleh Yusifov as the head of the "Cellular Signal Transmission Laboratory" until the competition is held was also deliberated.

Subsequently, an exchange of views on various current issues took place. It was noted that Metanet Bakhishova, a scientific staff member of the "Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry" laboratory at the Institute of Biophysics of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Gunay Aliyeva, a junior scientific staff member, participated in the conference "Decoding the dPCR Landscape: Diagnostics and Life Science Applications" organized by the "Bayramli Group" on June 14, 2023. Bakhishova reported that during the conference, the differences between digital PCR and digital droplet PCR compared to classical and real-time PCR methods were explained, and the advantages of the new generation PCR in the identification of plant pathogens, GMOs, ensuring food safety, detecting zoonotic diseases, and its application in oncology were discussed.

DECISION TAKEN:

1.    The name of the laboratory "Molecular and Cellular Immunology" at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan should be changed to "Cellular Signal Transmission Laboratory."

2.  Appoint the candidate of Biological Sciences, Taleh Nasib oglu Yusifov, as the acting head of the "Cell Signaling Transmission" laboratory until the competition is held.
