On January 17, a memorial event dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy was held at the Institute of Biophysics of ANAS.

The event was opened by the Director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Oktay Gasimov, who spoke about the political significance of the day.

Then, the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's independence and territorial integrity was honored with a minute of silence.

During the event, Azad Abdurrahimov, Deputy Director for Innovation and Transfer, PhD in Medicine, shared his impressions of the tragedy and spoke about the struggles for Azerbaijan's independence.

A. Abdurrahimov stated that on that day, the children of our people were killed by the occupying Soviet army: 146 people were martyred, and more than 800 citizens were injured. Despite the tragic events of January 1990, they could not break the will of the Azerbaijani people or their determination in the fight for national liberation!

The event concluded with a slide presentation about the January 20 tragedy.
