The acting director of the Institute of Biophysics of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, Oktay Gasimov, and the institute’s deputy director for innovation and transfer, PhD in Medicine, Azad Abdurrahimov, were on a scientific mission in Milan, Italy.

It should be noted that within the framework of cooperation between ANAS and CNR (The Italian National Research Council), work is being carried out on a bilateral grant project titled “Investigation of the structural and photophysical properties of biomaterials using EPR, IR-Fourier, confocal Raman, and NMR spectroscopy.” The project executors are corresponding member of ANAS O. Gasimov (representing Azerbaijan) and Professor H. Molinari from the Institute for Macromolecular Research of Italy (representing Italy).

As part of this project, an article has already been published in a high-impact journal (Ragona L., Gasymov O.K., Guliyeva A.J., Aslanov R.B., Zanzoni S., Botta C., Molinari H. – Rhodamine binds to silk fibroin and inhibits its self-aggregation, Biochim Biophys Acta).

During their visit, the representatives of the Institute of Biophysics visited the Institute for Macromolecular Research in Italy, where they closely familiarized themselves with the institute’s activities.

During the meeting, based on mutual agreements regarding the grant project, extensive discussions were held on the research results conducted by both sides, the preparation of scientific articles, and future plans. Several innovative proposals were also put forward.
