On April 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM, a scientific seminar on the topic “Water-based two-phase systems and their application prospects” will be held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Presenter: Professor Eldar Məsimov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Head of the Department of Structure of Matter at Baku State University.

ABSTRACT

The lecture will discuss the unusual properties of water, the anomalies of these properties, the “hydrophobic effect” as one of the reasons for these anomalies, the essence of the method based on the unequal distribution of substances in two-phase systems developed to quantitatively assess relative hydrophobicity, and the influence of any substance on the structure and thermodynamic state of water.
