A commemoration event dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly massacre was held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan.

The event began with a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide and all the martyrs who gave their lives for the defense and freedom of the homeland.

Opening the event, the Director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Oktay Gasanov stated that the Khojaly genocide, one of the most horrific tragedies of the Azerbaijani people, served the ethnic cleansing policy carried out by Armenian nationalists and their supporters. He referred to the Khojaly genocide as a crime against humanity and emphasized the importance of holding such commemorative events to convey the truth about the tragedy to the world and preserve our historical memory.

The head of the Department of Document Management and Chair of the Women's Council, Esmer Məmmədova, also spoke at the event, discussing the bloody crimes committed by Armenians in Khojaly, the details of the Khojaly genocide, and the efforts made to raise awareness about the genocide among the world’s peoples.

At the end of the event, a video dedicated to the memory of the genocide victims was shown.
