An event dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science was held at the Institute of Biophysics

On February 11, an event dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science was held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, organized by the Women’s Council and the Young Scientists and Specialists Council (YSSC).

At the event, Matanat Baxishova, the Chair of the YSSC and a scientific researcher at the Laboratory of Molecular and Cell Biochemistry, gave a presentation discussing the multifaceted role of women in society and women scientists who have been awarded the Nobel Prize in various scientific fields.

Next, a presentation by Esmer Məmmədova, the Head of the Department of Document Management and the Chair of the Women’s Council, was heard. The speaker emphasized the prominent positions that women hold in leading sectors of our country and their essential role in preserving and promoting our national and spiritual values. She also provided information on the contributions of outstanding women figures in Azerbaijani history, such as Zarifa Aliyeva, Aida Imangulieva, and Sara Ashurbeyli, to our culture and science.

In conclusion, Oktay Gasanov, the Director of the Institute of Biophysics and Corresponding Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, congratulated the women working in the field of science on the international day and wished them success in their lives and professional endeavors.
