A meeting with Italian scientists was held at the Institute of Biophysics

The Director of the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, Corresponding Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Oktay Gasanov met with Professor Laura Ragona and Simona Tomaselli from the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Technologies of the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy.

The meeting, held in a roundtable format, was also attended by the Executive Director of the Institute of Biophysics, Doctor of Biological Sciences Kerim Gasanov, Scientific Secretary, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Florida Mehraliyeva, Chief Manager, Doctor of Technical Sciences Azad Abdurahimov, Leading Researcher of the Laboratory of Biomolecular Structure, Dynamics, and Function, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Rasim Aslanov, and Chairwoman of the Young Scientists and Specialists Council of the Institute Matanat Baxishova.

During the meeting, the progress of the bilateral project within the framework of the joint program between the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy, titled "Aggregation Modulators of Functional Amyloids: Silk Fibroin as a Low-Cost Model for Alzheimer’s Disease Pathogenesis Research" was discussed in detail, and future collaboration prospects were exchanged, along with relevant proposals.

It should be noted that the joint research conducted under the program has opened new perspectives in the fight against amyloid diseases, and significant results of the project were published in an article in the high-impact international journal "Biophysical Chemistry".
