The meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics was held

The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics was held.

The meeting was opened by the Director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Oktay Gasanov, who introduced the members of the Council to the agenda items.

He informed the Council members about the tasks arising from the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated September 29, 2022, on declaring 2023 as the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" in Azerbaijan. In connection with this Decree, relevant instructions were given for organizing events related to the life and creative legacy of the great leader Heydar Aliyev.

Next, the tasks arising from the decision of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences dated September 30, 2022, regarding the outcomes of scientific research conducted in 2022 in the ANAS and other scientific and higher educational institutions of the Republic were discussed. The scientific secretary of the Institute, Associate Professor Florida Mehraliyeva, provided information to the laboratory heads regarding the preparation of the relevant reports.

Following that, the results of the attestation of the doctoral candidate, Ph.D. Leylakhanym Məlikova, in the doctoral program at the Institute of Biophysics were discussed and approved.

The meeting also heard a report on the scientific mission of the Executive Director of the Institute, Ph.D. Kərim Qasımov, and the Head of the Integrative Biology Laboratory, Corresponding Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, İlham Şahmuradov, who were on a scientific mission to Georgia from October 3 to 7. The scientists reported that, in addition to participating in the international scientific conference "COVID-19: Lessons Learned," organized by the European Union and the U.S. Department of State, they also familiarized themselves with the activities of the NCDC/R. Lugar Center and held productive discussions on opportunities for scientific collaboration.

Finally, a report on the progress of the lessons of the first and second-year master's students was presented. Professor Oktay Gasanov noted that regular meetings will be held with the master's students to check the quality of the educational process.
