Annual Reports of Laboratories for 2024 Presented at the Next Meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics

The next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Biophysics under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on November 23, 2024. The meeting was chaired by the Institute's Director General, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Oktay Gasimov.

At the beginning of the meeting, the report of the Head of the Integrative Biology Laboratory, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Doctor of Biological Sciences Ilham Shahmuradov, on his scientific visit to Turkey from October 3-5, 2024, was presented. Ilham Shahmuradov shared details about the meetings, discussions, and results achieved during the visit. His report was highly appreciated by the members of the Scientific Council.

Next, the results of the attestation of the Institute's doctoral candidate, PhD in Biology Leylakhanim Melikova, were discussed and approved. The Council members expressed positive feedback on the doctoral candidate’s scientific activity.

In the subsequent part of the meeting, annual scientific and organizational reports of the "Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry", "Integrative Biology", and "Cellular Signal Transmission" laboratories were presented. The laboratory heads – Doctor of Biological Sciences Karim Gasimov, Corresponding Member of ANAS Ilham Shahmuradov, PhD in Biology, Assoc.Taleh Yusifov – as well as scientific project executors, junior researcher Fidan Gudratova and junior researcher Aysel Aliyeva, gave detailed presentations.

The reports highlighted significant results of scientific research conducted in 2024, publications in internationally indexed journals, grant projects, human resource development, integration of science and education, and international scientific collaborations. Discussions were held around the presentations, and suggestions related to laboratory activities were voiced.

At the conclusion of the session, Professor Oktay Gasimov put the approval of the laboratories’ reports to a vote. The Scientific Council members unanimously approved the reports.

The meeting concluded with the discussion of several current issues, including the Institute's future plans, the expansion of international cooperation, and support for young researchers.
