It is the 70th anniversary of the leading researcher of the laboratory “Structure, Dynamics and Functions of biomolecules” of the Institute of Biophysics, Doctor of Philosophy in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Rasim Bakhtiyar Aslanov.
Rasim Bakhtiyar Aslanov was born on October 19, 1952, in the village of Farzaly, Gedabek district. In 1970 he graduated from secondary school No. 13 in Sumgayit and entered the Physics Faculty of Baku State University.
The scientist began his career in 1972 at the Department of Semiconductor Physics of the Faculty of Physics of Baku State University. From 1974 to 2002 he worked at the Institute of Physics as a laboratory assistant, senior assistant, engineer, senior engineer, junior researcher, researcher, and senior researcher.
In 1981-1985, he completed an internship at the Laboratory of Radiospectroscopy at the Institute of Chemical Physics in Moscow. In the same years, the structure of fibrillar proteins was studied by electron paramagnetic resonance after exposure to ultraviolet rays, and he defended his Ph.D. thesis on this topic in 1988.
From 2002 to September 2010, he worked as an instructor at the “Umid” Center for Humanitarian Social Support. During this time, he carried out educational work among the population on the BP project “Efficient use of energy and improvement of access to alternative energy sources”, implemented in the Western region of Azerbaijan on the territory where the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline runs. In 2015, in connection with the 70th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, he was awarded an honorary diploma for his services in scientific activities.
Rasim Aslanov has been working as a leading researcher at the laboratory “Structure, Dynamics and Functions of Biomolecules” of the Institute of Biophysics since 2016 and he is the chairman of the Trade Union Organization of the Institute.
The scientist has repeatedly participated in international conferences and congresses and worthily represented the science of Azerbaijan outside our country.
The staff of the Institute of Biophysics sincerely congratulates Rasim Aslanov on his 70th birthday, wishes him good health, many years of life and new successes in scientific activity.
