An official event dedicated to November 8 – Victory Day and November 9 – State Flag Day was held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education.

The event was opened by the Director General of the Institute, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Oktay Gasimov, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the great historical and moral significance of both national holidays for the Azerbaijani people. At the beginning of his speech, he called for a moment of silence to honor the memory of all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland.

In his remarks, Professor Oktay Gasimov stated that Azerbaijan is currently living through one of the most glorious and proud periods in its statehood history. According to him, today our country, having fully restored its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, holds a worthy place in the international community as a victorious nation.

Referring to the statements of President Ilham Aliyev, the professor noted that the victory achieved by Azerbaijan symbolizes both justice and peace:

“As the President emphasized, we have taken back what rightfully belongs to us — we need nothing more. We have no claims to the lands of others. The Republic of Azerbaijan conducts its policy based on the principles of peace and justice. We are confident that in the near future, we will travel to those liberated lands not with tanks, but with vehicles symbolizing friendship and peace, along free and safe roads,” – said Professor Oktay Gasimov.

The event continued with a speech by Arzu Aydemirova, a researcher at the Laboratory of “Structure, Dynamics and Function of Biomolecules” of the Institute of Biophysics. She spoke about Azerbaijan’s historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity, and the heroic spirit of the Azerbaijani people.

Aydemirova noted that with the liberation of Shusha on November 8, 2020, the Great Victory was inscribed in golden letters in Azerbaijan’s modern history:

“This victory is a triumph of our people’s unity, the strength of our army, and the determination of our Commander-in-Chief. The 44-day war was not only a military success but also a bright manifestation of national spirit and love for the Motherland. ‘Karabakh is ours! Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’ — this is the voice of justice and a symbol of our triumph,” she said.

At the conclusion of the event, Professor Oktay Gasimov expressed his gratitude to Arzu Aydemirova for her speech and concluded the meeting by saying:

“This victory is our source of pride and a true example of patriotism for future generations. May God bless the souls of our martyrs, and may God protect Azerbaijan.”
