A scientific seminar was held on the topic "Research of cancer stem cells and modern genetic tests"

The Institute of Biophysics under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted a scientific seminar on the theme “Research of cancer stem cells and modern genetic tests”.

Executive Director of the Institute of Biophysics, who opened the seminar with an introductory speech, Ph.D. Karim Gasimov, welcoming postdoctoral researcher at the Ege University in Turkey, Ph.D. Gunel Mukhtarov and the participants of the seminar, he spoke about the importance of holding such educational events in the field of oncology, and also stressed that scientific seminars held within the framework of international cooperation are useful for our scientists and young specialists.

Then Ph.D. Gunel Mukhtarova gave a speech inquiring about the relationship between cancer stem cells (CSCs), a small subpopulation of cells found in tumor tissue that shares many features with normal stem cells, the development of resistance to conventional treatment, disease recurrence, and metastasis to tumor tissue. cancer patients, personalized genetic tests have provided scientific information. He emphasized that successful targeting and elimination of XKH is one of the main challenges of cancer treatment, and to solve this problem, it is important to correctly identify and characterize XKH, create possible XKH biomarkers, and develop new targeted therapy strategies.

After listening to the report, the executive director of the Institute of Biophysics, corresponding member of ANAS Oktay Gasimov, executive director, Ph.D. Karim Gasimov, head of the laboratory of the National Cancer Center, Ph.D. Leylakhanym Malikova. in Biology, Ph.D., Assoc. Ibrahim Abbasov (ASOIU), Ph.D., Assoc. Gulnar Sultanova (Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Education and Science, AR), Hafiz Osmanov (Azerbaijan Medical University, Department of Biochemistry), Hussein Abiyev (Azerbaijan Medical University, Professor of the Department of Medical and Biological Physics), Alexandra Guliyeva (Intern of the Laboratory of Molecular Oncology of the National Cancer Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan) and others spoke and expressed their questions and opinions on the topic.

At the end of the seminar, Professor Oktay Gasimov, on behalf of the participants and the leadership of the institute, thanked Ph.D. Gunel Mukhtarova for an interesting and informative report.
