At the beginning of the event, the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland in both Karabakh wars was honored with a moment of silence. Afterwards, the Director General of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Oktay Gasimov, emphasized that the sacred memory of the martyrs will forever live in the hearts of our people:
“The Second Karabakh War has been engraved in history as the people’s victory. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan have been fully restored, and we have already entered a new stage of development. Today, our country cooperates with the world’s most influential financial and investment institutions and signs major projects. Without this victory, none of these opportunities would have been possible. In that war, we defended not only our lands, but also our national identity and statehood. This demonstrated to the whole world our people’s devotion to the Motherland and their sacrifice for the sake of the land. This victory has become the greatest motivation and the strongest example for future generations.”

Later, Laman Suleymanova, a researcher at the Institute’s “Laboratory of Biomolecular Structure, Dynamics and Function,” delivered a speech. She emphasized that September 27 was a turning point in the history of Azerbaijan, stating:
“Today is not only a day of mourning but also a day of heroism. The Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020, ended the 30-year longing of the Azerbaijani people. During the 44-day victorious campaign, our lands were liberated and Azerbaijan’s sovereignty was restored in Karabakh. This victory was achieved thanks to the blood of our martyrs, the dedication of our veterans, the unity of our people, and the decisive leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Today, life is being rebuilt in Karabakh — roads, schools, hospitals, and smart cities are being constructed. This too is a war — a war of restoration — and the Azerbaijani people will also win this war.”

It was noted in the speeches that September 27 is both a day of heroism and national unity. This date will always be remembered by Azerbaijani youth as a symbol of love for the Motherland, unity, and solidarity.

At the end of the event, a video dedicated to September 27 — Memorial Day was shown. The video included war chronicles, footage of the honorable life paths of our martyrs, and scenes reflecting the historic victory in Karabakh, which deeply moved the participants.
