On November 25, 2025, a regular meeting of the Scientific Council was held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education. The meeting was chaired by the director general of the institute, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Oktay Gasimov.

First, the 2025 report of the Laboratory of Structure, Dynamics and Function of Biomolecules was presented. The laboratory’s researcher, Matanat Bakhishova, provided information on studies carried out during the year on the structural-functional characteristics of the specially synthesized anti-cancer C16-EQRPR lipopeptide, the investigation of the potential use of human blood plasma protein nanoparticles as drug carriers, the kinetic analysis of protein aggregation, and the comparison of the physicochemical properties of lipid samples of various origins. She also reported on the extraction of lipids from the blood plasma of healthy and cancer donors and the preliminary processing of their FTIR spectra. The scientific supervision of the topic and the work was carried out by corresponding member of ANAS Oktay Gasimov.

Next, the report of the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry was presented by the head of the laboratory, Doctor of Biological Sciences Karim Gasimov. The report covered work related to the cloning of the HER1, HER2, and RAS genes—components of the EGFR signaling pathway—into a plasmid vector system and their transformation into cells, as well as transferring the HER1 gene into the pET-20b(+) vector and preparing it for expression in E. coli strains. He also presented results on the amplification of various plasmid vectors, the identification of alternative epitope regions of the ErbB2 and ErbB3 receptors, and the prospects of targeting these regions for the therapy of HER2-HER3-positive cancers.

The meeting continued with the 2025 report of the Molecular and Cellular Oncology Laboratory, presented by the laboratory’s co-head, PhD in Biology Leylakhanim Melikova. She provided information on the improvement of a statistical model based on the blood plasma of healthy individuals and lung carcinoma patients, the expansion of the database, and comparative studies of the membrane properties of carcinoma cells.

Afterward, the 2025 activity report of the Young Scientists and Specialists Council of the Institute of Biophysics was heard. The report was presented by the chair of the Council, researcher Matanat Bakhishova, who spoke about the events organized for young researchers, the projects carried out, the scientific results obtained, participation in international exchange programs, presentations at seminars and conferences, publication of scientific works, and outreach activities in the media. Proposals concerning the involvement of young people in scientific activity and the creation of new opportunities were discussed.

After questions related to the reports were answered, Professor Oktay Gasimov held a vote to approve the submitted annual activity documents. The members of the Scientific Council unanimously approved the reports of the laboratories and the Young Scientists and Specialists Council.
